Truth be told though, the more worn out I have gotten of late, the less I am wanting to work on schooling too. But, tonight I had the music going in the shower and "The Other Side of the Radio" by Chris Rice came on. In the song he can envision someone tapping on their steering wheel or bobbing their head with the music. He realizes that in some small way he might be able to touch people through his music and even remembers "his place."
Sure I'm tired. But, I remembered tonight how blessed I am to get to follow this path! What a hoot it is to work with people and get to be part of their lives changing. Whether it is grandparents getting more comfortable raising their grandchild, or an elderly widow cooking for the first time since her husband died, or a neat young couple reaching out to thank me months after I last worked with them, I feel so blessed. I just can't put it any other way.
I know my place and it is an honor and a privilege to serve as a counselor. How great do I have it?!
